Crypto and paper money

So I’ve never managed to get my head around Web3 and crypto. What’s the value beyond creating Ponzi schemes and bubbles that paper money does not solve? The Canadian trucker’s case kind of proved that if the state does not want you transact, you don’t. Paper money is anonymous, easy to use and exchange, and needs very little training to use.
